Hi there, so I am currently having a major issue here with the audio on my desktop computer. On Thursday, August 4th, when I booted up my computer there was no audio, only squelching noises coming from the speakers. Prior to then there had been no issues with the audio or the speakers in any fashion. I chalked it up to an issue with the speakers themselves they were cheap wal-mart ones , so bought the 2. When I went to insert them, everything seemed fine until the computer booted up, whereupon they proceeded to make the same squelching noise that the previous speakers did.

However, the speakers, according to the computer, were playing audio when tested, as the green bar was going up and down in-line with what the test tone. However, the only thing that occurred was the squelching making an odd noise, almost as if the sound was somehow getting through in a corrupted manner. Further testing recreated that same noise, so it wasn’t an outside incident.

I then tried the headset. Unfortunately, when plugged in, no audio whatsoever was transmitted from the computer to my ears. Note that I have placed the jacks for both devices in their respective appropriate slots, and these speakers are USB powered. As well, both the speakers and the headset have been tested on other devices, and are in perfect working order. I then contacted my friend to give me a hand, and when he arrived, we went through and attempted to diagnose the problem and go down the list of possible issues:.

At this point, I have purchased a new sound card, to see if it may be a physical issue. However that will not be arriving for at least 3 days. As such, any further insight would be deeply appreciated. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.
