AMD / ATI Radeon X2800 – early March. New data on R600 and R680
Another portion of rumors about future AMD / ATI graphics adapters appeared in the Chinese part of the web. According to one of the participants in the VR-Zone forum, AMD / ATI will release the long-awaited R600 on March 8 or 9. At the same time, the working name will change – new generation graphics adapters will be included in the Radeon X2000 family. The R600 itself will be available in two versions: Radeon X2800XTX and Radeon X2800XT.
For X2800XTX, the operating frequency of the GPU will be 750 MHz, and the GDDR4 memory will be 2.2 GHz. The slower X2800XT will have a GPU clocked at 600 MHz and GDDR3 memory at 1.8 GHz. Radeon X2800XTX will be available in 1 GB and 512 MB versions. All adapters use 512-bit memory interface.
It is also reported that AMD / ATI managed to get a working GPU sample (R680?) operating at 1 GHz (A15 stepping). If the information is correct, then we will see this chip in AMD / ATI graphics adapters of the second (after R600) wave. The source suggests that devices based on these GPUs will be released in the fourth quarter of this year (although planned for the third). Possible name for these adapters – Radeon X2850.
