MobiGater: Skype calls from any mobile phone

I am sure that almost all of our readers are aware of what VoIP telephony and the Skype service are. Some time ago, we even covered the appearance on sale of the first telephones that allow you to make Skype calls without using a computer – as a rule, such devices are themselves connected to a wired (Ethernet) or wireless (Wi-Fi) network. Developing the idea of providing mobile users with the opportunity to make inexpensive long-distance calls (to call subscribers of telephone lines or receive calls, you will have to use the SkypeOut / SkypeIn service), the European company Euro Design Intl. created MobiGater – a device that redirects calls from the cellular network to the Internet using the Skype service.

Moreover, there are no additional requirements for a mobile phone – neither Bluetooth nor a Wi-Fi adapter is required. You just have to install a SIM card in MobiGater, providing for the minimum cost of calls, say, within the network of one operator.

MobiGater itself, which could be classified as a “mobile switch-Skype” is connected to a PC via a USB interface. Its cost in Europe is around 200 euros and one can imagine that such a device will be of interest to small and medium-sized corporations, whose employees often have to use long-distance communication.
