XtreMOS technology will help AMI Semiconductor beat the competition?
The first results of the work of AMI Semiconductor on the previously presented XtreMOS technology have become known. Recall that the company develops and manufactures integrated circuits for processing analog and digital signals, mainly intended for use in the automotive industry, medicine and industrial production.
The XtreMOS technology hopes to overcome some of the limitations of today’s semiconductor devices, which will significantly improve the performance associated with high voltage circuits. In particular, the developer claims that the first silicon chips manufactured using XtreMOS outperform competitors’ products by 2-3 times in operating voltages in the range up to 100 V and have a resistance Ron not worse than 33 MΩ / mm2 /
The new devices consist of a MOS structure and a high-voltage resistor on top (the so-called RESURF arrangement is used, which allows you to increase the Ron value, significantly raise the breakdown voltage threshold) and expand the safe operating area (SOA).
