VESA reveals all plans for DisplayPort
Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) Releases DisplayPort Implementation Plan at CES 2021. Recall, currently version 1.1 of this standard is under consideration by VESA members and is scheduled to be voted on this month.
The roadmap outlines a smooth transition to mainstream use of a compact USB-like DisplayPort. The gradual introduction of the new standard is intended to ensure compatibility between current and future TVs, computer monitors and projectors. Thus, DisplayPort will replace DVI, LVDS and VGA connectors, greatly simplifying the connection of devices and making it more functional.
For hardware designers, VESA is preparing a DisplayPort Interoperability Guideline that explains how to connect DisplayPort, DVI and HDMI devices to consumer PCs using DisplayPort and adapters. The guidelines in the manual are said to ensure full compatibility of DisplayPort products with HDMI products, eliminating “inconsistencies” in home video equipment and computers.
In addition, VESA is launching a connector, cable and device testing program to ensure that products with the DisplayPort logo are interoperable.
