Latest details on ATI R600, R610 and R630
In addition to the much-anticipated first DirectX 10-compatible AMD / ATI R600 GPU, the companies’ latest plan contains two more GPUs: the R610 and the R630.
Contrary to rumors, R600 does not seem to be in time for Vista launch (January 30). At the moment, the launch of the production of cards based on it is scheduled for February, and the announcement and start of sales will be in the CeBIT 2021 area, that is, in the middle of March.
It is reported that the R600 will have a unified shader architecture (were there any doubts?) and will provide support for both GDDR3 and GDDR4. A12 chip revision running GDDR3 was shown behind closed doors at CES 2021 now underway. The final revision of the R600 will be A13.
The version of the accelerator equipped with GDDR4 will be the flagship product of the AMD / ATI line of video cards. Its frequencies and other characteristics are not yet reliably known.
There is even less information about R610 and R630. It is assumed that the first of the chips will find its application in entry-level accelerators, and the second in the mainstream segment. Both will be stripped-down versions of the R600, with full DirectX 10 support. The debut of such more affordable solutions should take place no later than June of this year.
