AMD plans to release new chipsets
Recently there was new information about AMD / ATI plans to release system logic sets in 2021 and the first half of 2021. Unofficial data fell into the hands of the journalists of the Chilehardware website.
So, in the first half of this year, the north bridges of the RS690 family (AMD 690G) will be released. In addition to the mass-market-oriented RS690 and RS690C (budget sector), three more chipset modifications should appear in the first half of the year – RS690T, RS690M and RS690MC. All include an integrated Radeon X700 graphics core with DirectX 9 Shader Model 2 support.0, they are supposed to be used in conjunction with the south bridge SB600. You can find out about the differences between the RS690 modifications here.
The second half of the year promises to please us with the north bridges RD790 + (upper price segment) and RX740 + (mass market). Both will support PCI Expess 2.0 and HyperTransport 3.0. At the same time, motherboards based on the RD790 +, designed for enthusiasts, can be equipped with two full-speed PCI Expess x16 slots or four PCI Expess x8 slots. The budget RS740 +, which will be released at the same time, will differ from the RS690 mainly only in support of HyperTransport 3.0.
It is reported that AMD / ATI has had engineering samples of the RD790 + for several months, which so far work with HyperTransport 1.0 and PCI Expess 1.0.
In the first half of next year, AMD / ATI will release the RS780 chipset for the mainstream market, which will already support DirectX 10. At the same time, a new south bridge will appear – SB700, featuring built-in support for flash modules designed to speed up Windows Vista boot (ReadyBoost function).
