Pulse cuts Gigabit Ethernet isolation modules in half

Using technology commonly used in IC manufacturing, Pulse, an electronics company, was able to produce what is claimed to be the industry’s smallest two- and four-port discrete isolation transformers for Gigabit Ethernet equipment.

New modules are 50% smaller than existing samples. This gives designers greater flexibility in component layout and opens up a new potential for reducing the size of printed circuit boards. It was possible to reduce transformers due to the use of BGA cases.

Applications for new products designed for surface mounting include communications equipment, computer motherboards, network adapters, hubs, routers, routers and a variety of devices with power over Ethernet (Power over Ethernet, PoE) for home and office use.

Pulse Quattro H5400NL and H5401NL modules have four ports and are 29 x 17.5 x 11mm. Dos modules H5200NL and H5201NL are two-port and therefore even more compact: 14.7 x 17.5 x 11 mm. Product price – $ 2.19 “per port” in a batch of 10,000 units.
