LEDs pretend to be light bulbs, but they themselves can give way… hybrids

The fact that the era of incandescent lamps will not last forever has been said more than once. LEDs are considered to be the main contender for the role of a new generation light source. However, Cyberlux Corporation, engaged in the development of “solid-state lighting solutions”, recently published a message that may be a harbinger, no matter how loud it sounds, another revolution in the lighting industry.

We are talking about new product samples that Cyberlux is preparing to present. Their common feature is the use of so-called hybrid technology. It is built on a combination of organic and inorganic materials and produces a glow of white and other colors. The technology is based on developments acquired from the University of California-Santa Barbara and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The latter’s specialists have created the Scattered Photon Extraction (SPE) technology.

Bringing both developments to the commercial stage, Cyberlux received their own smart products called Hybrid White Light (HWL) and Hybrid Multi-color Light (HML). New light sources reportedly differ from existing LED solutions in lower cost and energy consumption.

Unlike conventional LED sources, HWL and HML use a film made from a polymer or organic material that is cheap and energy efficient in terms of energy consumption. Additionally, the use of SPE increases the light output and efficiency of the sources (by 60% compared to conventional LEDs). With the new product features, Cyberlux expects to cover a wide market including outdoor and indoor lighting systems, residential homes and offices, civil, military and government facilities.
