D-Link DIR-450/451: access to 3G networks from any PC

With the commissioning of third-generation cellular networks, data transfer rates have increased so much that this method of connecting to the Internet has become relevant not only for mobile phone users, but also for PC owners.

D-Link introduced two routers that will make it easier for desktop users to access EV-DO (DIR-450 model) and UMTS / HSDPA (DIR-451 model) networks.
After connecting the corresponding 3G adapter to the PCMCIA slot, which both routers are equipped with, the latter make it possible to access the mobile network from a PC via Wi-Fi 802.11b / g.

New D-Link equipment supports a set of security features, including: 64- and 128-bit WEP encryption, Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key (WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK), Stateful Packet Inspection firewall , SPI).

The devices are equipped with four 100/10 Mbps Ethernet ports.

D-Link DIR-450 has already gone on sale, its cost is 300 dollars, DIR-451 is expected later in the current quarter, its price has not yet been announced by the manufacturer.
