Kaspersky Lab: Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile is on sale
Kaspersky Lab announces the release of a product for protecting mobile phones (smartphones) equipped with Symbian and Windows Mobile operating systems. Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile is a full-featured solution for integrated smartphone security designed to protect a mobile device from malware and unwanted SMS / MMS messages. Compared to the previous version of the product, called Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Symbian OS, Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile differs in a wide range of technological and functional changes that increase the application’s performance and usability.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile provides antivirus security for smartphones based on Symbian and Windows Mobile operating systems by combining continuous anti-virus protection and on-demand scanning and protects a mobile device from spam received in the form of SMS / MMS messages by adding unwanted numbers to the blacklist. Control over virus threats in real time is carried out both over wireless connections and over EMS / MMS messages, as well as data obtained as a result of synchronization with a PC. In this case, the user is given the opportunity to flexibly manage the settings of Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile, view the current state of anti-virus protection, as well as the event log, where the actions of the application are recorded.
The anti-virus database update function built into Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile protects against the latest malware. In this case, the update can be carried out automatically using a special scheduler or at the user’s request. Database updates are downloaded via WAP or HTTP protocols from the servers of Kaspersky Lab. Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile makes full use of all the advanced functional features of modern smartphones, allowing you to use the built-in web browser to receive updates to the anti-virus databases and information about detected viruses.
The main difference inherent in the new generation of mobile phone protection systems is a significant expansion of the functional part of the program, which offers the user a much more complete set of tools for processing scanned objects and protection against electronic threats. Kaspersky Anti-Virus R Mobile provides the user with a number of previously unavailable features, including the functions of scanning individual objects (files, folders) and isolating infected objects in a special quarantine storage, which avoids the destruction of important information. In addition, the effectiveness of anti-virus protection has increased due to the introduction of the function of unpacking and checking the contents of sis files, which are often used by virus authors as carriers of malicious code.
Also, Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile is characterized by increased performance compared to its predecessor, achieved by optimizing the anti-virus engine of the solution.
Smartphone users will appreciate the innovative anti-spam component of Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile for mobile solutions, called Anti-Spam, which protects the owner of the phone from mass advertising mailings distributed via SMS / MMS channels. For maximum user convenience, Anti-Spam has three preset operating modes differentiated by the degree of filtration granularity: “enabled”, “only lists” and “disabled”.
In the “on” mode, Anti-Spam filters incoming messages using the “black” and “white” lists, compiled by the user in accordance with the convenient procedure described below. When a message is received from a phone number that is not included in any of the lists, Anti-Spam will display a warning for the user and offer him / her to block or allow receiving the message, as well as to include the phone number in the “white” or “black” list. Thus, when using the Anti-Spam function, the user creates an individual SMS / MMS filter, which ensures that only the messages he needs are received. In the second mode of operation of the Anti-Spam function, “lists only”, the system filters incoming messages only based on the data contained in the “white” and “black” lists. Receiving messages from numbers that are not included in any of the lists is allowed without a user request. Finally, when the Anti-Spam function is set to “off”, the filtering of incoming messages is not performed.
The product is installed on smartphones running Symbian operating systems version 6.x, 7.x, 8.x – Series 60, 80 or UIQ or Windows Mobile 2021 (for Smartphones, Phone Edition) and 5.0.
