New information on ATI R600 and Radeon X1950 GT

According to VR-Zone, the official announcement of ATI Radeon X1950 GT video cards should take place early next month.

These accelerators will be based on the 80nm RV570LE GPU. These accelerators will differ from the older model X1950 Pro sold since autumn only in frequencies: 500 MHz and 1.2 GHz for the core and memory, respectively, against 575 MHz and 1.38 GHz. GPU will remain the same: 36 shader pixel processors, 8 shader vertex processors, 12 ROPs, 12 texture units and native CrossFire support.

The novelty will take place between the X1950 Pro ($ 199 MSRP) and the X1650 XT ($ 149). Its price will be $ 169.

As often happens, one of the manufacturers hastened to present their video cards based on an officially unannounced product – this time it was Palit with its X1950GT Super 512MB, information about which appeared about a week ago.

The same source reports that he was able to access a DX10-compatible graphics card based on the R600 GPU. From the first impressions of the accelerator, its enormous length is noted – 34 cm (!) and the fact that it uses two 6-pin power connectors instead of one 8-pin as expected.

At the same time, we must not forget that it was previously reported that the cards on the R600 will be redesigned, so it is quite possible that VR-Zone has not the last revision of such an accelerator. Let’s wait for new information.
