Intel plans for the structure of sales of its processors in 2021

Intel sent a document to its partners about how the shares of various processors in the company’s sales structure will look like by the end of 2021.

In the desktop segment, Intel plans to bring the share of dual-core solutions to 85% by the end of the year, while quad-core processors will remain the lot of enthusiasts – 5% of sales in the fourth quarter.

By the fourth quarter, the manufacturer intends to completely exclude from its range of 90nm processors, including Pentium D, Pentium 4 and Celeron D. 65nm Pentium 4 has not been reported, however, judging by the fact that by the end of the year, Intel will only have 4 lines of desktop processors (Core 2 / Quad, Core 2 Duo, Pentium E2000 and Celeron 400), they will also be removed from production. Thus, the NetBurst architecture will completely disappear from the desktop segment by early 2021.

As for mobile processors, then Intel will have a more loyal policy in relation to outdated models. Despite the fact that by the end of this year 90% of such solutions should be Core 2 Duo processors, the manufacturer will produce in small batches both Yonah and even 90nm Dothan.

In the server segment, everything is extremely simple. 70% of the company’s offerings here will be quad-core Clovertown and 30% dual-core Woodcrest. As you can see, the situation here is exactly the opposite of what is observed with desktop processors.
