Samsung has Gigabit Mobile DRAM chips ready
Samsung yesterday announced that it has the industry’s first 1Gb Mobile DRAM chips. They are manufactured by the Korean electronics giant using 80nm technology standards.
The new items are characterized by low power consumption, which allows them to be used in a wide range of various mobile devices, including digital cameras, portable media players, portable consoles, etc.P.
The new Mobile DRAM features an improved idle power saving mechanism, which saves up to 30% energy compared to current solutions.
In terms of footprint, a gigabit solution will offer 20% savings compared to using two half the size. It is allowed to combine such microcircuits with flash memory to further save space inside the mobile device.
Mass production of this type of memory should begin in the second quarter of next year.
