Kaspersky Lab: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 and Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 now also on Windows Vista
Kaspersky Lab announces the release of the public beta version of the Maintenance Pack 2 for personal computer protection products Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0. The most important addition to these products by Maintenance Pack 2 is support for the new Windows Vista operating system.
Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 are the latest generation of information security tools developed by Kaspersky Lab. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 protects your computer from malware penetration, while Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 provides comprehensive PC security against all types of electronic threats – malware and spyware, hacker attacks, online fraud and spam mailings. At the same time, the anti-virus component of Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 has all the capabilities of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0.
The reason for the release of the second update package as soon as possible after the release of Maintenance Pack 1 was the need to provide comprehensive protection against all types of cyber threats to users of the new Windows Vista operating system, which Microsoft plans to release at the end of January 2021. Previously released versions of antivirus products are incompatible with this operating system due to its architectural features. The second update package provides products for Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 the ability to fully work with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista.
At the same time, Maintenance Pack 2 includes all the functions and additions contained in the first package – in particular, full support for the Windows XP 64-bit Edition operating system, expanded functionality of on-demand scan tasks, a number of improvements to the proactive protection module, and protection of the Windows Task Manager from injecting malicious dynamic link libraries (dlls).
More information about Maintenance Pack 2 can be found on the beta testing page.
