PQI Turbo SATA DOM: Solid State Drives for Industrial Applications
In addition to the 2.5 “64GB Turbo Solid State Disk drives designed for installation in laptops, PQI has also released a product aimed at industrial use – Turbo SATA DOM (Disk On Module).
It uses the same 2.5 “form factor and the key difference is that the Turbo SATA DOM plugs directly into the SATA port on the motherboard. The drive is fixed with a special mechanism that prevents it from falling out. PQI itself calls its drive the first example of using SATA in similar products.
To order, these drives will be available in two versions, differing in connector placement, which will increase the compatibility of these solutions with existing motherboards.
This year, PQI plans to release Turbo SATA DOMs with a capacity of 128 GB, which is already comparable to hard drives of a similar form factor.
P.S. Currently, the manufacturer does not provide images of new products, therefore we provide a photo of a 4 GB drive.
