One month left until the demonstration of the 80-core Intel Tera-Scale processor

At the international forum International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) 2021, scheduled for February, Intel, according to ARS Technica, will present new information about its Tera-Scale processors and show a prototype of such a chip.

So far, of course, there is no complete data on what Intel is preparing. Let’s summarize what we know about such processors from past publications.

Data exchange between processor cores is carried out at a speed of more than a terabyte per second. The processor has an integrated static memory (SRAM) with a total volume of 20 MB (256 KB per core). Current samples of 80-core processors run at 3.1 GHz. They are packed with BBUL technology.

In general, the Tera-Scale concept implies three components:

  • Tera Operation Per Secord (1012 operations per second)
  • Terabit Data Transfer
  • Tera I / O (I / O Speed)

The commercial availability of such processors is expected to arrive within five years when the Gesher architecture hits the stage.
