New price cuts for Intel processors
Intel has recently updated the price list for its desktop processors. According to the source, the next “collapse” in prices has been postponed from the end of the second quarter to April 22. Perhaps Intel wants to strike a preemptive strike ahead of AMD’s star-studded processors. Pentium D, Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad price cuts will be significantly reduced. In addition, Pentium E and Celeron 400, which were supposed to appear in June, will be released ahead of schedule.
Information has been confirmed that the quad-core Core 2 Quad Q6600 will undergo the largest discount – the processor released on January 7 will cost $ 530 from April 22, and not 851, as it is now (37.7% discount). At the same time, Core 2 Duo E6700 and E6600 will lose 40.3% and 29.1%, respectively: for the E6700 it will drop from $ 530 to $ 316, and for the E6600 – from $ 316 to $ 224.
Representatives of the middle price segment, Core 2 Duo E6400 and E6300, will not be significantly discounted – from $ 224 to $ 183 (-18.3%) and from $ 183 to $ 163 (-10.9%), respectively. However, from April 22nd, these CPUs will receive new names, E6420 (2.13 GHz) and E6320 (1.83 GHz), and will be released with 4MB L2 cache.
Changes are also outlined in the public sector. The recently introduced Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 will drop in price from $ 163 to $ 133 (-30.7%), and the E4400, which will be released that day, will cost $ 133.
Significant discounts are expected for Pentium D 935 and Pentium D 925 processors, the price of which will be reduced to $ 84 and $ 74 respectively (now it is $ 133 and 113). Obviously, this is the last price cut for them – in mid-June they will be replaced by Pentium E2160 (1.8 GHz, 1 MB L2 cache, FSB 800 MHz) and Pentium E2140 (1.6 GHz, 1 MB L2 cache, FSB 800 MHz ). At the same time, they will cost the same – 84 and 74 dollars, respectively.
Finally, the Celeron D 440 (2 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB) will cost $ 59, and the Celeron D 430 (1.8 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB) will cost $ 49. Either will provide better performance than today’s Celeron 360 (3.6GHz).
