Panda Software: Top Threats in 2021
Panda Software’s Antivirus Lab has predicted the top threats to computers in 2021. According to the laboratory specialists, the main problems for both users and security companies will be the same as in 2021. Targeted attacks, t.e. attacks purposefully aimed at hitting specific targets; vulnerabilities in system software and online fraud, especially phishing, will again dominate. Obviously, the common denominator for all these attacks will again be financial gain.
PandaLabs also predicts the development of social engineering practices, especially in relation to spam, given that in the last months of 2021, postal waste was widely used to boost stock prices, and even to influence election results.
Exploiting vulnerabilities is another factor to consider. Cybercriminals will try to take advantage of the time between the discovery of the vulnerability and the release of the corresponding patch from the developers. Hackers will try to identify unknown security issues in all types of popular applications.
