New Information on ATI R600, RV610 and RV630: Models, Frequencies

A little more than a month remains before the CeBIT exhibition, where, according to preliminary information, the official announcement of the first DX10-compatible graphics processor from ATI, codenamed R600, and accelerators based on it should take place. All information about future AMD / ATI video cards today is unofficial, including that new portion of it, which was told to us by the Singapore resource VR-Zone, which, we recall, was at one time the first who correctly named the specifications of the GeForce 8800.

So, based on the R600, three accelerator models with the XTX, XT and XL indices will be released simultaneously, which probably differ in operating frequencies. The volume of GDDR4 video memory will be 1 GB, the access bus will be 512-bit, and the memory frequency will be over 2 GHz. The first products are expected to be released at the end of March, rather than in April, as previously expected.

Adapters with a PCB length of 24 cm will go retail, while more bulky, 30-cm cards will go to OEMs.

An updated CrossFire mode is reported, which will provide a greater increase in performance than current generation accelerators.

The budget RV610 chip will be produced in two variations. The first of them, RV610LE, operating at 400 MHz, will be installed in accelerators along with DDR2 memory. The second, RV610PRO, whose clock speed will be 700 MHz, will function with DDR3 memory.

Finally, the mainstream RV630 will be used in accelerators equipped with DDR2, DDR3 and DDR4, which will allow AMD / ATI to diversify its lineup to the maximum.

The first samples of video cards based on RV610 and RV630 will be ready in March, and mass production is planned for April, which is slightly earlier than expected.
